Where to find Curly Dock

Foraging curly dock was exciting! The entire process is pretty easy. You find curly Dock near ditch areas. Don’t use anything from a high traffic area. Mine was found in our back woods.

Cut the stalk but gather enough for at least 1/2 cup. I like to gather enough to fill a quart jar.

Once it’s gathered pull each stalk to clear a the seeds into a large box. It can be messy so I tend to pull the seeds outside.

Clean debris from the seeds (like sticks, spider webs, leaves). I let the seeds sit overnight in a dry area in the garage.

Spread the seeds onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper. You may need to bake a few batches.

Bake the seeds at 325 degrees for 10 minutes.

Cool completely. Grind the seeds until the consistency of fine coffee grounds.

Store in a sealed container.

Curly Dock flour makes amazing brownies.

I will post a video of making these amazing brownies. Stay tuned.

What a fun relaxing day in nature!

I will explain mullein soon!
